The Communications division provides public information, reprographics, webmaster services, and video production.

The division responds to community requests for information regarding public schools countywide. The division also disseminates information to the media, school districts, and the community through press releases, commentaries, newsletters, and specialized publications, and produce radio commentaries that air countywide. Innovations in Education, a monthly television program, highlights innovative curriculum programs, and four television shows–Talking With Teachers, Education Matters, Schools of Thought, and Local Leaders–hosted by County Superintendent Susan Salcido–explore educational issues.

Q: How can I contact you?

Q: What kinds of products can you print?
With its newly-acquired large format color printer, the SBCEO print shop can print posters, vinyl banners, magnets, and other media, up to 48 inches wide, all at a fraction of what it would cost if you sourced the job on the economy. We also print black-and-white and color copies, envelopes and letterhead, business cards, NCR forms (with multiple carbon copies), fillable PDF forms, directories and booklets, labels, photo-identification badges, and other products. In addition, we offer desktop publishing and graphic artist services as well as binding, collating, drilling, folding, stapling, cutting, laminating, and more.

Q: How do I place an order?
All we need is a work order and a clear description of what you’d like to have printed.

Q: How long will it take to print my job?
Often we can complete a project in less than two business days. Depending on the job’s size and complexity it may take longer. If you have a tight deadline, please call us at 964-4710, ext. 5253, to see if we can accommodate you.

Q: What file formats can you work with?
We prefer PDF files, but we can also accept Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel documents as well as graphic elements in formats such as JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and BMP.

Q: Where do I get a reprographics order form?
The reprographics order form can be found here. In addition, paper forms can be mailed to customers if requested, or picked up in the copy room at the Santa Barbara County Education Office.

Q: What is the largest size you can print?
The largest size we can print in high-quality color or black-and-white is 12 x 18 inches.

Q: Can you print on folders?
We cannot print directly onto folders of any type, but we can print many kinds of adhesive labels for you to apply to your folders.

Q: How do I pay for my printing?
For schools and school districts, we send an invoice upon completion of your project with directions on where to remit your payment. We ask nonprofit groups and other customers to pay by cash or check when they pick up their order.

Q: How do I place an order?
Check with the Mixed Media Specialist to make sure the job can be completed to your specifications within your time constraints. Then submit a signed work order with a clear description of your graphic design project. You can contact Luis Medina at or 964-4710, ext. 5270.

Q: How long will it take to complete my job?
We need a minimum of two weeks from the time the work order is received, but the time required will vary according to the complexity of the job. If you will also require printing services, please remember to plan for additional time after the graphic work is completed.

Q: Do you proofread your projects?
No. The responsibility for all editing resides with you, the client.

Q: When can I get my photo taken for my identification badge?
Photos for ID badges are taken between 8:30 a.m–3:30 p.m. and only on the second and fourth Fridays of each month. You will need to bring a signed badge-request form on the day your photo is taken. To make an appointment, email Luis Medina at or call her at 964-4710, ext. 5270.
